Deja Vu… That’s what I’m feeling as I write. Not so much that I’ve been here before… more like I’m about to write the same thing. The Bow – despite being devilishly tricky for newcomers and occasionally downright sly about offering up trout that will sip small dries – continues to be on fire. San Juan worms, peacock and gartside leeches, clouser minnows, lightning bugs, and boatmen patterns should be in everyone’s boxes these days. Oh and heavy leader/tippet material because your quarry is big.
River levels have been hugely variable over the past week or so – on two instances doubling briefly before settling in to ‘normal flows’ for this time of year. (more….)
