This is a fly I use in rivers and lakes.   I tie a lot of these because I lose a lot \while guiding. This is a “Quick Tie” - I acknowledge that a counter rib of wire would make it more durable but I do not add it because I think that it “scrubs out” better without the counter rib of wire. The more torn up these flies get the better they fish anyway. Plus if you tie them with good tight thread wraps they last quite a long time regardless.

Materials List:

Hook: Daiichi 1710 6-10

Thread: Uni 6/0 black or red

Lead:   .025″

Tail: Black marabou tip

Dubbing: STS trilobal bloody black leech or equivalent

Tips: I like to use a loop knot when fishing these leeches. The fly can be stripped or dead drifted. Different approaches work on different days.  A black tungsten bead or small dumbell can be added as well for a more jiggy motion while fished.
