February 15 - MarcU won an Airflo fly line with his submission “It is relaxing it is something that keeps my mind off the hustle and bustle of life. You lose yourself just you and the river, lake whatever you are fly fishing. It keeps me serene the fight sometimes the fish or the stick wins and you win the fight. Nature seeing the birds what the fish snack on its amazing you can walk for miles and not know you are getting excercise. That is why I fly fish.”
March 15 - BryanD won his choice of SA Mastery line with his submission “I fly fish for the fresh air, the sound of the water, the time to focus, the thrill of the hunt and reward of just being out there and oh yeah the opportunity to sometimes catch one of gods greatest creations!”
April ‘09 - GordonD won an SA Mastery line with his submission.
May ‘09 - MikeR won his choice of Rio fly line with his submission “These words are not my originals, but capture better than I can, the wonder of Fly Fishing: “My relationship with fly-fishing has included having, at various times, the keenest sense of self-awareness. I like the stew to be rich enough to catch some of the stillness, complexity, joy, fierce intensity, frustration, practicality, hilarity, fascination, and satisfaction that I find in fly-fishing. I like it to be fun, because fly-fishing is fun-not ever so serious and self-conscious that I take it to be a religion or a way of life, or a source of salvation. I love it passionately. And finally, I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun.“
June ‘09 - JFraser won an Airflo flyline.
July ‘09 - AndyB won an SA Mastery fly line.
August ‘09 - BrianM won a Rio fly line.
September ‘09 - GordB won an Airflo fly line for his submission. “I have been blessed with living on B.C’s west coast all my life. I think I entered this world with a fishing rod in my hand. I have had the opportunity to fish for and catch more than my share. I am a rod builder, reel fixer and now jumping in with both feet into the wonderful world of fly fishing. I never used to understand it but now that I am older it seems that a true angler evolves with age. It is not as important how big or how many you catch in a day but the sense of enjoyment you come away with at the end of the day. Mastering the finer aspects of flyfishing, both physical and mental is very rewarding. It also allows me to buy more rods, reels and of course all that amazing material it takes to tie the perfect fly.”
Ocotber ‘09 - EllenT won a Rio fly line.
